About the role
Who we’re looking for?
Reporting into the CTO, this position involves close collaboration with both the Product Team and Senior Engineers to craft detailed Product Backlog Items that translate customer needs into actionable development tasks.
In your role, you will be responsible for refining and prioritising the product backlog, defining the scope of squad deliverables and ensuring that all deliverables align with the broader goals of the business. You will act as a bridge between various stakeholders, including Product Management, Design Teams, and Development Squads, to foster clear communication and efficient workflow. Your expertise will guide the iterative development process through each sprint, ensuring that the team remains focused and efficient.

Responsibilities and activities

Work with one or more Scrum Teams (with the help of the Scrum Master) as the Product Owner, providing vision and direction to the stakeholders and Scrum teams alike.

Identify and create new Product Backlog Items and perform full backlog management tasks.

Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the PBI’s to facilitate task breakdown.

Define and prioritise the product backlog based on business and customer impact, collaborating closely with the Product Teams to ensure alignment with product strategy.

Work closely with the CTO, VP Engineering and Senior Engineers to identify Tech Debt and other non-functional requirements and incorporate them into the product backlog.

Ensure that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent and clear to all. Perform an active role in the key scrum ceremonies.

Lead the engineering release planning sessions, ensuring expectations are set for delivery of new products and features to the internal stakeholders and wider customer base.

Lead the planning of product release schedules and set the expectation for delivery of new functionality.

Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.

Required skills
-
Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Product Owner or similar role in software engineering teams.

Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and the Scrum framework, with the ability to effectively manage backlogs, plan sprints and attend daily stand-ups (when appropriate).

Strong experience in interpreting product owned User Requirements in order to write clear, concise and comprehensive user stories.

Experience overseeing cross-functional teams with at least 5-10 team members including Developers and QA Personnel.

Proficiency in understanding user needs, translating them into product features and prioritising them to enhance user satisfaction and experience.

Understanding of software development processes and technologies to communicate effectively with the development team and make informed decisions.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address conflicts or issues that arise during the development process.

Capable of leading by example and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages openness and innovation.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
